Prestigious B-School School of Management Sciences, situated at Varanasi has again bagged
awards in the Fourth Word HRD Congress organised from 11 - 13 February at Taj Lands End,
Mumbai for the second consecutive year, amongst the top management institutes across the
country. SMS has bagged awards in the two categories - 1. Innovation in Building Academic &
Industry Interface, 2. Outstanding Business Leadership Award (North).
It is important to mention that the awards in the above mentioned categories has only been
bagged by top management institutes across the country, SMS being one of them. These
awards have been bestowed on the top business schools across the country in the fourth
world HRD congress under the Dainik Bhaskar, 'B-School Leadership Awards' category and
the DNA & Star of Industry Group, 'Innovative Business School' category. In this summit
3200 business schools were invited including the top business schools such as IIM - Ahmedabad,
MDI - Gurgaon, ISB - Hyderabad, IIPM - New Delhi, IMT - Ghaziabad, Jamunalal Bajaj Institute
of Management Studies - Mumbai, XLRI - Jamshedpur, XIM - Bhubaneshwar, etc. This summit
was organised by the country's top corporate house ONGC in the Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
On behalf of SMS this award was received by Mr. Sharad Singh, CEO, SMS Group of Institutions and Dr. Sudhir Sharan, Director, SMS, Lucknow. The Chief Guest of the summit was thePrime Minister of Bhutan Mr. Jigmy Y. Thingle. On this occasion Ministers from Singapore &
Malaysia were also present. Top corporate houses such as Indian Oil, TATA Docomo, SBI,
PNB, Essar, Kingfisher, HDFC were also associated with the summit.
The awards in the HRD Congress is given after evaluating the top business schools on tough
standards and bench marks. After inviting 3200 management institutes, on the basis of the
information provided Fun & Joy at Work conducted a detailed survey & research. The institutions
were evaluated on important criterias such as quality of education and academic delivery
system, facilities provided by the institutions, number of faculty members, their qualification
and experience, placement of the students and the companies participating in the placement.
Finally the report was prepared and presented to the jury. The eminent jury member team

Dainik Bhaskar Business School Leadership Award in different categories was based on different
aspects of business education. SMS Varanasi was felicitated in this category on the basis of
curriculum, faculty, facilities and resources for personality development and placement. The
other award was in the category of Business School with Excellent Industry Interface for
preparing the student according to the requirements of the industry.
