MobilityWorks in Akron Ohio Honored for History of Expansion, Innovation, Community Involvement and Customer Service.
Akron, OH – MobilityWorks of Akron has been selected as a recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Business Award. The honor will be presented by the Greater Akron Chamber at an award luncheon on June 11th at the Sheraton Suites Akron, along with of five other local business recipients.
The mission of the Greater Akron Council is to drive economic development and prosperity for the people of the Greater Akron Region. According to the Council, recipients were judged on the ability to demonstrate outstanding performance, growth, staying power, innovation, and proven leadership in the community. All of the companies selected are private, for profit businesses that provided a 5-year history of success in areas such as employment, sales and income. Nominees also had to demonstrate recent examples of expansion, investment in capital, product innovation, community involvement, outstanding customer service, and other economic growth contributors.
For consumers in wheelchairs, MobilityWorks represents the largest minivan conversion manufacturers and OEM chassis in the market, including: Dodge/Chrysler, Ford, Honda and Toyota, plus reconditioned used vehicles. Led by owners Bill Koeblitz and Taylor Clark, the company has grown from a single location to 13 consumer van showrooms in seven states and over 200 employees. In addition to their consumer headquarters, they also have two manufacturing facilities, also located in Akron. Their commercial vans are manufactured from new Ford E-Series and Transit Connect vans directly supplied to the company by Ford. The Inc 5000 company is Ford Motor’s largest ‘upfitter’ of mobility vans for commercial fleet use.
