7pm – Jambalaya – “MAY CONTAIN NUTS”

Jambalaya presents May Contain Nuts, a new comedy show from the popular sketch outfit. Jambalaya's inventive humour offers a refreshing perspective on life's absurdities. If you've ever been bored stupid at work, or baffled senseless by IT, or bothered by dogma and ignorance and you think the self-righteous as a dangerous bunch, then this show's for you.

Welcome to a world of heckling parishioners, dancing inbreds, singing hillbillies, unintelligible techies and delusion quiz contestants. Jambalaya has been delighting London audiences with their inspired characters, physical comedy, songs and word play since 2004. "May Contain Nuts" is their first Edinburgh show. But the trio is lucky to be here at all.

Jambalaya - a trio of thirty something writers/performers - came relatively late to the comedy scene. James Brunskill, Paul Conneely and Giles Tebbitts met three years ago at an evening class and have been making each other laugh ever since. Encouraged to turn their conversations into sketches, they were booked for a gig.

Unfortunately on the night, the venue caught fire while Jambalaya waited in the wings. The theatre was evacuated. Unperturbed by such divine intervention, Jambalaya persevered and are now popular performers at Sketch Club, Downstairs at the Kings Head, Sketch Fix, Soho and the Canal Café Theatre. They regularly bring the house down, although in an entirely different way nowadays.

When not writing and performing comedy, the members of Jambalaya lead extraordinary lives featuring jobs, mortgages and kids. And now they’re taking May Contain Nuts to the Edinburgh Fringe. Are they nuts? Come see the show at The Funny Side Edinburgh Preview Festival and find out…

8pm – Mike Belgrave – “OUT TO LUNCH”

What could a man who's only regular decision in life is, “Do I change out of these clothes or do I go out in the ones I slept in?” have to tell you about anything? Well, why not find out and be pleasantly surprised with Northern Irish West Indian Londoner Mike Belgrave's debut Edinburgh solo show, Out to Lunch. An hour of stand up comedy regaling tales about food, shmokin, drinkin, wimin and many other unrelated subjects.

Mike Belgrave has been performing stand up for over 4 years. He is regularly requested as an MC and closing act for many universities and comedy clubs and has also performed in Dublin and Barcelona. See this sneak preview of his first ever solo Edinburgh show at the TFS Edinburgh Preview Festival.
