had been through cardiovascular exercise. With this in mind, millions of people hit the treadmills in hopes of running off that excess weight.
More and more experts in the field of personal training and weight loss are concurring that the use of total body exercises and various other routines that encourage muscle growth are great, if not better than cardiovascular exercise for losing weight and getting the six pack abs desired by just about anyone with abs.
Muscle building exercises are advantageous over aerobic exercises such as jogging and walking in that the residual effects of the exercise are beneficial for longer.

In layman's terms, the higher the resting metabolic rate (RMR), the more calories burned, therefore the more fat burned. This is because ones RMR is determined by the amount of calories burned outside of the normal metabolic routine. So, after subtracting the calories burned from things such as breathing, pumping blood, etc. what ever is left is the amount burned by your muscles. Therefore, the more muscle on ones body, the more calories needed to be used as energy to maintain them.
This information can prove valuable to those looking to lose weight and tone up quickly. Exercises that trigger the highest possible RMR are the ones that will not only be the fastest way to lose belly fat but will also be the most effective ways for toning up.
Any activity which requires anaerobic use of the entire body (full body exercises) are the most effective at triggering high calorie consumption as well as keeping the resting metabolic rate at its highest and building muscle.
Activities such as squats, lunges, power cleans, bench press and pull up exercises trigger more than one muscle group and have the ability to maximize RMR. Additionally, these exercises require the performer to keep their core tight therefore working the abs muscles and can lead to the

desired by many.
Experts still suggest that incorporating a healthy diet along with cardiovascular and anaerobic exercises are the best ways for maintaining health.
